Curricula at GIIS
Our international Middle school programme is designed to provide a rich learning experience to students aged 11.5 to 15.5 years, a crucial age when physical and mental development is rapid and all-encompassing.
Secondary schooling plays an essential role for the students' transition between primary and high school. Secondary education in Japan has two divisions - junior secondary education (6th to 9th grades) and senior secondary education (10th to 12th grades). Secondary education focuses on the academic as well as extra-curricular and co-curricular growth of the students. The secondary school programmes focus on 11-14 years-olds’ cognitive, emotional and spiritual growth. Secondary education helps students identify, nurture, and grow their academic and non-academic interests.
We offer the CLSP curriculum which is designed for secondary school students between the age of 11 and 14 years. CLSP, which is a part of Cambridge Key Stage 3, assists students in developing exceptional abilities, knowledge, and understanding in order to pursue international education. The CLSP curriculum has been designed to enhance the knowledge and skills of students studying in 6th, 7th and 8th grades. As one of the top secondary schools, GIIS aspires to provide the finest learning experience for Cambridge students so that they can pursue higher qualifications and certificates such as IGCSE and tread on the best career path.
Our result-oriented approach has helped us acclaim the title of best international secondary school in Tokyo. Our highly qualified teachers use extensive CLS evaluation to judge how well a student is performing. Our data analytics-driven assessment, the 7S assessment, assists our teachers in analysing the strengths and weaknesses of students, while allowing them to design personalised learning paths for each student.
